Details of Michael Johnson’s New Track League Unveiled – Grand Slam Track Will Feature 4 Meets Each With $3 Million+ In Prize Money Where Stars Must Double

The league has signed up Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who has only run 4 Diamond Leagues in her life, to commit to doubling at 4 meets a year. What’s disappointing is the event groups are totally siloed off and the hurdlers are in their own group. SML would never race Marilediy Paulino or Athing Mu in a 400 for example. SML would be in 400h/400 group whereas Paulino would be in a separate 200/400 group and Mu in the 800/1500 group. And Jakob Ingebrigtsen might never race Josh Kerr as the 800/1500 and 3000/5000 are totally separate. Do we really need the same distance guys racing each other four times in the 3000 and 5000 on the same weekend? Or need to see Grant Holloway race a flat 100 that only includes other hurdlers? It comes across as having a superstars exhibition feel to it instead of a legitimate track meet with the best facing the best.
