Hudson-Smith and Asher-Smith bounce back at Lausanne Diamond League
- Hudson-Smith wins 400m ahead of Samukonga
- Asher-Smith runs season’s best 10.88 to win 100m
Matthew Hudson-Smith and Dina Asher-Smith bounced back from their Olympic disappointments with victories in the Diamond League in Lausanne.
Hudson-Smith was pipped to gold in the men’s 400 metres final at Paris 2024 by just four hundredths of a second by Quincy Hall and the pair were expected to renew their rivalry on Thursday evening. But Hall withdrew from the showdown and Hudson-Smith claimed the win in 43.96sec, eight hundredths quicker than the Olympic bronze medallist, Muzala Samukonga.
