Ninety-year-old runner sets new 200m world record – video
Ninety-year-old Emma Maria Mazzenga has set a new world record in the 200m indoor for the W90 category, running the distance in 54.47 sec at the European Master Championships in Italy. The previous record, set 13 years ago, was 1 min, 0.72 sec. The achievement is all the more impressive as Mazzenga resumed training less than a month before the competition, having taken four months off to recover from a hip fracture. Mazzenga has earned two world records and many other titles during her long master’s competitive career, which she began at the age of 53.
