The 16-year-old Wilson ran a time that would have won the last two world titles while Mu went out in 57.15 but had nothing in the last 100 in a race won in 1:58.19. In other action, unheralded 33-year-old Emmanuel Matadi ran 9.93 to win the 100 (+1.2) and Josh Hoey (1:44.22) beat Clayton Murphy (1:45.01) in the 800 and two-time Olympic and 4-time World champ Christian Taylor jumped for the last time in the men’s tripe jump.
